SPITES (CREATURES)

The term sprite is a general term referring to a number of legendary creatures. The term may be used in reference to both elf or fairies. Also included in the classification are other similar creatures, such as spirits, including both ghosts and spiritual beings. The term is chiefly used in regards to European folklore.

The word sprite is from spiritus (spirit). Also called spright or spriggan by the Celts.

ELVES (ELF): Folklore fairies that are somewhat mischievous.
FAIRIES (FAIRY): A winged creature from stories and mythology.
GHOSTS: The visible, disembodied soul of a dead person.
 
SPIRITS: Any incorporeal supernatural being that can become visible or audible to human beings.
SPIRITUAL BEINGS: Any incorporeal being believed to have powers to affect the course of human events.
