BUDDHISM
Buddhism, like most of the great religions of the
world is divided into a number of different traditions.
Buddhist do not believe in a transcendent or any other
type of God or Gods, the need for a personal savior, the
power of prayer, eternal life in heaven or hell after
death. They also do not have a central authority or
universally accepted sacred scriptures or a set of
creed.

BUDDHIST SECTS: Buddhism today is divided into three main
sects: Theravada, or Hinayana (Sri Lanka, Thailand,
Burma, Cambodia), Mahayana (China, Japan, Vietnam,
Korea), and Vajrayana (Tibet, Mongolia and Japan).

BUDDHIST SYMBOLS:
Buddhist visual art has produced an elaborate vocabulary
of symbolic and iconic forms of expressions. A great
variety of Buddhist symbols are found in temples and in
Buddhist visual art and literature.
