CELTIC CIRCLE (ONE)
The richly layered beauty of knot work is the most
identifiable type of Celtic art and artistry. The mystique
of Celtic knot symbolism lies in the complex interlacing of
unbroken lines and it all starts with the circle.The
circle (also known as "One") is a Celtic symbol connected to
many different cultures of the world, both Celtic and
non-Celtic. Like all things it has many interpretations;
some say it is a representation of the moon or the sun.
While others say it shows the circle of life, in that life
has no beginning or end. Yet others believe it is the
representation of the eye of their god (or gods watching
over them). |
