MUDRA VAJRA
The Vajra mudra is formed by
grasping the raised forefinger of the
clenched left hand with the clenched
right hand, with the tip of the right
forefinger touching (or curled around)
the tip of the left forefinger. This is
also known as the six elements mudra, or
the fist of wisdom mudra, for it
symbolizes the unity of the five worldly
elements (earth, water, fire, air, and
metal) with spiritual consciousness. In
Japan, Dainichi Nyorai is especially
important to adherents of Esoteric
Buddhism (Shingon). |
