CELTIC SYMBOLS
There have been many ancient Celtic symbols found in
mythology, art and architecture:
|
AWEN AKA (THREE RAYS):
Some say this Celtic symbol is the representation of the
light seen at the point of death and the glory of the
other world greeting you. To me, it looks very much like "beam me up".

|
BLUE MOON: A
blue moon is the second full moon in a calendar month.
For a blue moon to occur, the first of the full moons
must appear at or near the beginning of the month so
that the second will fall within the same month since
the average span between two moons is 29.5 days.
|
|
CELTIC CROSS:
The cross can symbolize the four quarters of the earth,
and/or the four elements (earth, air, fire, and water).
The circle is a symbol of eternity and the path of the
sun in the sky. |
|
CELTIC KNOTS:
While many of the ancient designs certainly had some
spiritually significant meaning, these have been lost to
the ages. The continual looping of the designs suggests
themes of eternity and interconnectedness, and knots may
have been made at one time to foil evil spirits.

CELTIC SUN: |
|
TREE OF LIFE: Trees were a physical representation of unity with all
things because of their visible upper parts which reached
far into the heavens, and the unseen bottom parts, or roots,
which reached far into the ground, virtually identical to
the visible parts. |
|
THREEFOLD: To the Druids, this Celtic symbol was
known as threefold. |
|
WHEEL OF LIFE (CATHERINE
WHEEL):
The old Celtic word for the solar calendar was Bleidonii, and
the passage of time was symbolized by a wheel.
|
|
I am the wind that
breathes upon the sea,
I am the wave on the ocean,
I am the murmur of leaves rustling,
I am the rays of the sun,
I am the beam of the moon and stars,
I am the power of trees growing'
I am the bud breaking into blossom,
I am the movement of salmon swimming,
I am the courage of the wild board fighting,
I am the speed of the stag running,
I am the strength of the ox pulling the plow,
I am the size of the mighty oak tree'
And I am the thoughts of all people
Who praise my beauty and grace.
